Together with the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Pacific (SPAWAR) we recently released a whitepaper focused on Adaptive Polling for Reconfigurable Underwater Data Collection Systems (APOLL).

This paper was presented by Dr. Pedro Forero at OCEANS’ 18 Conference in Japan. In this paper, we present how advances in technology, systems, computation, and storage have led to smaller, more capable underwater vessels with reduced capital and operating costs. The paper also presents initial performance results from a simulation study and demonstrates that APOLL outperforms CSMA/MACA-based MAC protocol and TDMA in terms of traffic throughput and channel utilization in typical underwater acoustic environments. Download the paper: or contact SCALABLE to learn more.
